MORE RECALL INFO: NEWS: Chrysler is recalling 18,100 Fiat 500L vehicles; 2014: TRANSMISSION MARCH 2014 -- Chrysler announced a handful of recalls this week of small numbers of Fiat, Dodge and Jeep vehicles. The most serious recall this week involved about 18,100 model-year 2014 versions of the Fiat 500L, Fiat's new four-door crossover. Chrysler said it has received reports that some vehicles equipped with the automatic transmission were not consistently shifting out of Park and were not shifting into other gears in a timely fashion. "The investigation discovered the function of one microcontroller component may be compromised by certain temperature extremes. A software update resolves the issue," the automaker said in a statement. No accidents or injuries have been reported. Dealers will upgrade the transmission software. A recall notice schedule has not been specified. Some vehicles were assembled with contaminated brake fluid and may experience a degradation of the sealing components within the brake system.
