Chrysler Sebring Recall Information OCTOBER 2010 -- Chrysler is recalling certain model year 2010 Chrysler Sebring, 300, Charger (LX) and Dodge Challenger (LC), Avenger (JS), and Journey (JC), as well as model year 2011 Dodge Ram light duty pickup (DS) vehicles. Some of these vehicles may experience a separation at the crimped end of the power steering pressure hose assembly. Leaked power steering fluid onto hot engine components could cause a fire. Dealers will inspect and replace as necessary the power steering pressure hoses free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin during November 2010. Chrysler's recall campaign number is K26. 10V-475 NEWS: Chrysler to recall 26,000 vehicles for fluid leak YAHOO NEWS -- October 20, 2010 – Chrysler is recalling about 26,000 cars and pickup trucks because power steering fluid can leak onto a hot engine and cause a fire. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says on its website that the recall includes some 2010 models of the Chrysler 300 and Sebring, the Dodge Avenger, Challenger and Journey, and some 2011 Dodge Ram pickups. NHTSA said Wednesday that a power steering hose assembly can separate at the crimped end and leak fluid onto the engine. Dealers will inspect the vehicles and replace the hoses for free. MORE RECALL INFO: JANUARY 2010 - Chrysler is recalling model year 2010 Chrysler Sebring; Dodge Avenger and Nitro; Jeep Liberty, Commander and Grand Cherokee; and model year 2009-2010 Dodge Ram truck. These vehicles may have been built with an improperly formed or missing brake booster input rod retaining clip. This could result in brake failure without warning which could cause a crash. Chrysler will replace the brake booster input rod retaining clip free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin during February 2010. FEBRUARY 2009 -- Chrysler is recalling 92 MY 2009 Sebring and Dodge Avenger equipped with 2.4L engine passenger vehicles. A compatibility issue between the instrument cluster software and fuel pump module can result in the fuel gauge overstating the actual fuel tank level. As a result, the vehicle may run out of fuel when the gauge indicates that there is still fuel remaining in the tank. This could cause a crash withoutwarning. Dealers will replace the fuel pump module free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during March 2009. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403. 09V-047 SEPTEMBER 2008 -- Chrysler is recalling 712 MY 2009 Sebring, Dodge Caliber, Avenger, Journey, Jeep Patriot, and Compass vehicles. A new adhesive used in the power train control module (PCM) manufacturing process can cause the printed circuit board to break. This can cause the engine to stall and cause a crash without warning. Dealers will replace the PCM free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during November 2008. APRIL 2008 -- Chrysler is recalling 180,963 MY 2007-2008 Sebring and Dodge Avenger vehicles equipped with a standard tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). Unused electrical connectors for the TPMS may become corroded and could short circuit, which can cause a variety of conditions including engine no-start, dead battery, an inoperative cruise control or remote start system, and/or engine stalling. Engine stalling could cause a crash without warning. Dealers will seal the wires for the TPMS free of charge. The recall began on April 15, 2008. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403. 08V152 NEWS: Chrysler recalls Sebring, Avenger sedans for tire-monitor fix Detroit News -- April 8, 2008 -- Chrysler LLC is recalling 181,000 Sebrings and Dodge Avengers, Bloomberg News reported today. The recall is needed to fix wiring connections in tire-pressure monitoring systems that may prevent the sedans from starting or cause them to stall. It covers some 2007 and 2008 model-year Sebrings and Avengers, Chrysler said in a letter posted on the Web site of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Chrysler dealers will remove any corroded connectors and add protective covering. MORE INFO: Chrysler Sebring Dodge Avenger OCTOBER 2007 -- DaimlerChrysler is recalling 72,333 MY 2007-2008 Avenger sedan and Chrysler Sebring convertible vehicles. The front door latch cable may become partially unseated from the interior release handle housing possibly causing the latch to stick in the unlatched position or the lock function to become inoperative. Driving a vehicle with an unlatched door can result in an unbelted front seat occupant falling out of the vehicle or being ejected in a crash, causing increased risk of injury. Dealers will add a secondary retention feature to both front doors. This action will supersede and expand a previous safety recall (please see 07V104). The recall is expected to begin during October 2007. 07V-414 OCTOBER 2007 -- Chrysler is recalling 102,042 MY 2007-2008 Dodge Avenger and Chrysler Sebring vehicles equipped with 2.4 liter engines. The engine coolant may be drawn into the left radiator cooling fan motor connector. This can cause an electrical short circuit and result in an engine compartment fire. Dealers will inspect the connector for contamination or damage, install a wiring harness overlay, and replace the fan motor. The recall is expected to begin during November 2007. 07V-473 NEWS: Chrysler recalls 369,000 vehicles for problems DETROIT (Yahoo-Reuters) - Automaker Chrysler LLC said on Friday it is recalling almost 369,000 vehicles for problems with brake systems and door latches and locks. Chrysler, which was taken private by Cerberus Capital Management in a $7.4-billion deal last month, said it is recalling 296,550 sport utility vehicles for the brake-related problem. The vehicles affected include Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Commander SUVs for the 2006 and 2007 model years and the 2007 Jeep Wrangler and Dodge Nitro. The automaker, which ranks as the fourth-largest in U.S. sales, also said it is recalling about 72,333 2008 Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Avenger sedans because of a potential problem with a cable connected to the front door latches in the vehicles. The recall includes 62,369 model-year 2007 Chrysler Sebring, Chrysler 300, Jeep Commander, Jeep Compass, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Liberty, Jeep Wrangler, Dodge Nitro, Dodge Magnum, Dodge Charger and Dodge Caliber vehicles to re-program the system Electronic Control Unit. In recalled vehicles, instrument panel warning lamps may illuminate and be followed by loss of the anti-lock brake system, traction control and speedometer functions. While the problem could result in a loss of control, no accidents or injuries have been reported. Owners will be notified in February 2007. Consumers who experience the faulty warning lamp illumination should take their vehicle to a certified dealer for inspection. November 2006 -- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced Chrysler is also recalling 2,258 Sebring sedans from the 2007 model year with a hood latch part that may break and allow the hood to open while driving. |
