NEWS: Chrysler is recalling 25,250 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango vehicles; 2012-2013: BRAKES
Yahoo News  @ March 10, 2014

MARCH 2014 -- Chrysler Group LLC said it is recalling 25,250 Jeep and Dodge sport utility vehicles globally to address a braking issue.

Chrysler, a unit of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles , said the recall is being done to improve pedal feel during certain aggressive braking maneuvers.

An investigation found brake fluid flow was being restricted too much and the company said it is updating software to improve the flow and restore appropriate pedal feel.

A company spokesman said Monday there have been no reports of accidents or injuries related to the issue.

Chrysler said a supplier raised a concern about a part that accommodates Ready Alert Braking, a safety system that primes brakes for optimal response when making a sudden stop. The company said brake function was not lost or out of compliance, but pedal feel was not consistent with customer expectations.

Affected models are certain Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs from model years 2012 and 2013, including about 18,700 in the United States, 825 in Canada, 530 in Mexico and 5,200 outside of North America, the company said in a statement late Friday.

Chrysler said it will notify customers when to schedule service, the cost of which the company will cover..

NEWS:  Chrysler recalls some 2013 Durango SUV's for air bag problem
DETROIT  NEWS -- August 16, 2012

AUGUST 2012 -- Chrysler Group said Thursday it is recalling 1,600 new Dodge Durango SUVs because some side air bags may not function properly.

The Auburn Hulls automaker said it will recall 1,661 2013 Dodge Durango SUVs — including 1,449 in the United States — to replace occupant-restraint control modules. The recall includes 131 in Canada and 81 in overseas markets.

The seven-passenger vehicles were assembled with mislabeled modules designed for five-passenger vehicles. An incorrect module could diminish side air bag function in some collisions, the automaker said.

Chrysler said the vehicles were built between April 11 and July 20.

Chrysler said it is unaware of any associated crashes or injuries with the defect. Most of the recalled vehicles are still on dealer lots.

The automaker will notify dealers by the end of September.

JANUARY 2009 --  Chrysler is recalling 19,024 MY 2005 Dodge Durango vehicles. The fuel tank filler tube inlet check valve may not fully close at the end of refueling. Dealers will inspect the fuel tank inlet check valve. Vehicles found to have a suspect inlet check valve will have the fuel tank assembly replaced free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during April 2009. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403. The ignition/park shift interlock system may become inoperative. This can allow the shifter to be moved out of the "park" position with the ignition key removed (or in the "lock" position). This can also allow the ignition key to be removed when the shifter has not been placed in the "park" position. Either of these conditions could allow the vehicle to roll away causing a crash without warning. Dealers will replace the gearshift blocker and bracket assembly. The recall is expected to begin during January 2008. 07V-555

NEWS:     Dodge Trucks Recalled

WASHINGTON (AP) — Dec 7, 2007 - Chrysler LLC said Friday it is recalling nearly 600,000 Dodge trucks and vans to address concerns that the vehicles could shift out of park without the key in the ignition.

The recall affects 576,417 2001-2002 Dodge Dakota trucks, Dodge Durango sport utility vehicles and Dodge Ram vans and the 2002 Dodge Ram pickup. In some cases, long-term wear on the gearshift assembly could erode the height of the shift blocker, creating the potential for the vehicle to shift out of park.

Chrysler spokesman Max Gates said there have been nine incidents involving injuries connected to the issue. No fatalities have been reported, he said in an e-mail.

Owners will be notified beginning in January 2008 and dealers will replace the gearshift blocker and bracket assembly.

In the interim, vehicle owners are advised to use the parking brake at all times when the vehicle is not in use, Gates said.

WASHINGTON - March 9, 2007 -- After dozens of reports of fires in Dodge Durango and Jeep Liberty sport utility vehicles, DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler Group recalled nearly 500,000 vehicles Friday.

Chrysler said it had received 66 reports of fires in Dodge Durango SUVs from the 2004-2006 model years because of electrical overloads in the driver's side instrument panel below the dashboard. The automaker said it was recalling 328,424 Durangos.

There were no crashes or injuries reported in connection to the recalls, Chrysler said.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration had opened defect investigations involving the Durango and Liberty.

In the Durango, Chrysler spokesman Max Gates said an integrated circuit in the instrument panel could get overloaded and lead to overheating and affect the interior lighting.

Owners will be notified about the Durango recall in April. The vehicles will be inspected and those SUVs with instrument panels that fail the review will get replacement parts.

The company said if drivers notice problems with the interior lights, they should take their vehicles to a dealer for inspection. In some cases, the interior lights will not properly dim after the doors are closed.
