SEPTEMBER 2016 -- Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2012-2015 Ford Focus, 2013-2015 Ford Escape and Ford C-MAX, 2015 Lincoln MKC and Ford Mustang, and 2014-2016 Ford Transit Connect vehicles. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the door latches with an improved part, free of charge. Due to a limited parts supply, each owner will be sent an interim notification beginning October 3, 2016 and will receive a second notice when parts are available in the second quarter of 2017. NEWS: Faulty door latches prompt Ford to recall 830K vehicles
August 4, 2016 -- Detrot News

AUGUST 2016 -- Ford is recalling nearly 202,000 pickups, SUVs and cars in North America because the automatic transmissions can suddenly downshift to first gear.

The company also said Wednesday that it’s recalling more than 81,000 Explorer SUVs to fix a rear suspension problem.

The transmission recall covers the 2011 and 2012 F-150 and the 2012 Expedition, Mustang and Lincoln Navigator. Ford says a software problem in a speed sensor can force the vehicles into a downshift. The problem has caused three crashes but no injuries.

Dealers will inspect the sensors. If they find no trouble codes, they’ll update software. If trouble codes are present they’ll replace the part that houses the speed sensor.

The Explorer recall covers SUVs and Police Interceptor models in the U.S., Canada and Mexico from 2014 and 2015. Ford says the suspension links could fracture due to poor welds.

The company says in a statement that the problem has caused one crash and an injury.

Dealers will replace the left and right rear suspension toe links and align the rear suspension at no cost to owners.

JULY 2015 -- Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2015 Ford Escape vehicles manufactured April 1, 2014, to June 12, 2015, Ford Focus vehicles manufactured June 17, 2014, to June 12, 2015, and Ford C-Max vehicles manufactured April 22, 2014, to June 12, 2015. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention." If the engine does not turn off as expected, someone could move the transmission shifter out of park and the vehicle may move unintentionally, increasing the risk of a crash. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will update the body control module software, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin July 20, 2015. Ford's number for this recall is 15C06. NEWS: Ford recalls 850,000 vehicles for electronic glitch
Detroit News  @ September 26, 2014

SEPT 2014 -- Ford Motor Co. said Friday it is recalling 850,000 vehicles because an electrical glitch could prevent the air bags from deploying in a crash.

The Dearborn automaker said in a statement Friday that is recalling some 2013-14 Ford C-MAX, Fusion, Escape and Lincoln MKZ vehicles in North America for an issue with the restraints control module.

The recall includes 745,000 vehicles in the United States, 82,000 in Canada and 20,000 in Mexico.

The module may experience a short circuit, Ford said.

“If a short circuit occurs, the airbag warning indicator will illuminate. Depending on the location of the short circuit, the deployable restraint systems (e.g., airbags, pretensioners, side curtains) may not function as intended in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury. The short circuit may also affect the function of other systems that use data from the restraints control module, including stability control,” Ford said.

The recall includes the 2013 Escape — which in a short period has become one of Ford's most recalled vehicles.

This marks the 12th recall for various versions of the 2013 Escape and Ford has issued 41 technical service bulletins for various problems.

Ford said it is not aware of any crashes or injuries related to this condition. Dealers will replace the restraints control module.

Automakers this year have recalled millions of vehicles because the airbags could fail to deploy. The auto industry has recalled a record setting more than 45 million vehicles this year — breaking the all-time record of 30.8 million vehicles recalled set in 2004.

The new Ford recall includes 2013-2014 C-MAX vehicles built at the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne from Jan. 19, 2012 to Nov. 21, 2013; some 2013-2014 Fusion vehicles built at Hermosillo Assembly Plant, Feb. 3, 2012 to Aug. 24, 2013; some 2013-14 Escape vehicles built at Louisville Assembly Plant, Oct. 5, 2011 to Nov. 1, 2013; and some 2013-14 Lincoln MKZ vehicles built at Hermosillo Assembly Plant, April 25, 2012 to Sept. 30, 2013.

MAY 2014 -- Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 C-MAX, and Escape vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the restraint control module (RCM) may have errors in the programming software which may result in a delayed deployment of the side-curtain rollover air bag. If the side-curtain rollover air bag is delayed in deploying in certain rollover circumstances, the risk of injury to the passengers is increased. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the RCM, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin May 26, 2014. Ford's number for this recall is 14S04.
