Ford recalls 462,000 SUVs over faulty rear camera

Applies to Ford Explorers, Lincoln Aviator and Lincoln Corsair

JANUARY 2023autoblog.com — Ford is recalling the Escape, Maverick and Lincoln Corsair hybrid models built for the 2020-2022 model years to address a potential under hood fire risk brought on by engine failure. The recall covers 100,689 vehicles from the three model lines.

According to Ford, the issue is the result of a defect that can lead to a fuel leak in the event of an engine block or oil pan failure. As the recall has not yet been posted to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration’s website, further details are not yet available.

JANUARY 2023 — Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, and 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair vehicles equipped with a 360-degree camera. The video output may fail, preventing the rearview camera image from displaying. Dealers will update the image processing module (IPMB) software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed February 20, 2023.  Ford’s number for this recall is 23S02. This recall expands and replaces NHTSA recall number 21V-735. Vehicles previously repaired under 21V-735 will need to have the new remedy performed.
