Hyundai Tucson Recall
Hyundai is recalling certain 2017 Tucson vehicles with 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder engines.
More than 95,000 Hyundai Tucson SUVs and Sonata Hybrid sedans and from the 2017 model year are being recalled because their engines may suddenly stall or even catch fire.
The vehicles are all powered by 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder engines, which may have defective rod bearings. The bearings may wear prematurely. This can cause the engine to stall during operation. In extreme cases, a damaged connecting rod can puncture the engine block and cause the engine to leak oil onto hot components, leading to a fire.

SEPTEMBER 2021 — Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2017 Tucson and Sonata Hybrid vehicles. The connecting rod bearings inside the engine may wear prematurely, which can result in engine damage. Dealers will inspect the engine. If bearing damage is found, the engine will be replaced. Dealers will also install a software update containing a new Knock Sensor Detection System (KSDS). Repairs will be performed free of charge. Hyundai’s number for this recall is 209.
